Desperation is a bit mental as well. I really thought Ron Perlman did a good job in that film, the book seems to be one of the lesser spoken about novels. I haven’t read IT or The Shining yet but loved both ITerations (see what I did there!) of the former and the classic of the latter.
I am trying to plan an attack on It. The books is so long I know I wouldn’t finish it. I don’t mind long reads, but it looks me weeks to get through The Shining.
… I’m not a fan of Stephen King’s writing… I will try not to go into my rant as to why. Ha ha!! I just find the man way too descriptive and he has weird perversions… Usually involving children. Lol! But, I DO like movies/mini series/tv shows based on his work.
I cannot agree more. I keep trying to read popular novels but I don’t like his writing style. This started out as a “watch the movie instead list” but I decided against it. I know there are oodles of readers who enjoy his writing and find it scary, this is for them.
IT is not only a great novel, my opinion of course, but a great novel to study as a tool guide when writing a novel. At least for me, that is. Being careful no arguments come my way. 🙂
The book helped me develop characters. The first time I read it I felt like I knew these people. They felt like friends. Afterwards I remember thinking, how did he do that to me?
I need to read more King. I’ve read The Shining and Carrie and a couple of others. I picked up a copy of Beauties on audio so hoping to get to that one very soon.
Lynn 😀

I did read his memoir On Writing and liked it.
