It is no secret that Amazon has impacted the reading world. From the Kindle e-reader, to transforming the book selling market, the impact of Amazon is everywhere (for better or worse). Many have mixed feelings about the influence and impact of Amazon, but I am here to tell you some perks of reading through Amazon.
If you are looking to read on a budget and have a prime membership with Amazon, these are great tips to help you read within a budget.
1. Prime Reading
If you have a prime membership, you have to take advantage of the Prime Reading Library. You can access from the Kindle Library within Amazon OR within the Kindle App. You can access ebooks and audiobooks. There is other content, but I am only familiar with borrowing ebooks and audiobooks. If you have an Audible account, the audiobooks you borrow sync over to your Audible account automatically. It is pretty neat.
Browse the Prime Library here. Check out all of the perks of a Prime membership here.
2. Amazon First Reads
You don’t have to be a prime member to join this, but it is free for all prime members. Each month the Amazon editors select a few ebooks to feature. You get to be one or two books from this list to get for free. If you are not a prime member you can pay $1.99 to get the book at that price. Whichever titles you pick are yours to keep forever. I have gotten some good books from Amazon Frist Reads.

3. Kindle Unlimated
I do not have Kindle Unlimited, but if you are a romance reader you have to get KU. KU is basically an Amazon library membership you pay to use. Using KU, you have unlimited access to the KU library to read ebooks, magazines, and listen to audiobooks. There is always, ALWAYS, a deal on KU. It could be get three months for .99 or something similar. Without a premotion, KU is $11.99 a month. If you read one book a month, it would be worth your money. My only complaint with KU is that I find more books I want to read through my local library, which is why I don’t have KU. In all of the book groups/chats I am in, almost everyone has KU and loves it.
Right now you can get a 30 day free trial or 2 months for $4.99, click here to learn more.
4. Kindle Rewards (Beta)
When you buy an book or an ebook through Amazon, you earn Kindle points. After earning a certain amount of points you unlock rewards to get discounts on future book purchases. It is a neat reward program if you are buying books through Amazon frequently. I often get emails about various Kindle Reward promotions, one that recently ran was: “Earn 3 points per dollar on Kindle books and 1 point per dollar on print books.”
5. Kindle Deals
If you follow me on Twitter you know I love Kindle Deals! If you are an ebook reader, you have to look through the Kindle Deals often. There are ebooks on sale for as little as .99! It is a glorious section of Amazon. I have gotten so many books for $1-$3.

6. The Household Library
I think this is one of the coolest features Amazon offers. Any account linked to your household can share books and audiobooks purchased. There are ways to control which books are shared, so no need to worry about that. I love being able to share books within my household. I know this is not everyone’s favorite feature, but it is mine. It is great to buy a book once everyone in my household can read it.
Did you know about these Amazon perks?
It took me years to take advantage of these Amazon reading perks. Hopefully, you can discover them sooner than I did.
