My Thoughts:
Uninvited by Emily Shiner is a psychological thriller you won’t be able to put down. From the first chapter, it sets the stage for a tangled web of lies, betrayal, and emotional chaos.
I picked this up the weekend before school started. I was immediately absorbed in the lives of Aimee and Dale. They are a couple hoping to repair their fractured relationship after Dale’s scandal with Hannah. Just when it seems their getaway might offer a fresh start, Hannah and her lover, Mitch, show up. They appear at the same hotel, in the room next door. The tension between the couples is juicy.
The story alternates perspectives between Aimee and Hannah, moving fluidly between past and present. This structure keeps the suspense high and adds layers to both women’s motivations. Some of their actions seemed wild, I found that this added to the sense of unpredictability. Fitting for a psychological thriller.
I devoured the book in a single sitting. If you enjoy thrillers look no further than Uninvited.
