Hazel Wood has a series of word search book, what makes this one stand out is the theme. Not only is it autumn themed, but also has a strong British influence.
When you open the book, you are greeted with a title page. You can follow the QR code to connect with the author, as well as suggest topics for future books. On the next page, there is a refresher on how to complete a word search puzzle.
Each puzzle has a title and topic. The topics are related to the overall theme of the book, so British autumn vibes–supper fun! under the title of the puzzle, there is a short blurb related to the topic of the puzzle. Within each puzzle, you hunt for 24 words.
If you are a hardcore word searcher, you likely want to know how difficult are these puzzles? I would consider this puzzle book to be easy to medium in difficulty for an adult. For a child, they would be hard. The large print makes it easier to read and find the words.
Some of my favorite puzzles were “77. Shakespeare in Autumn” and “80. Autumn with Austen.” These were an absolute treat for my bookish soul. While literary lovers will feel right at home, the book offers plenty of variety. You’ll also find puzzles focused on breakfast foods, cozy comforts, and many other autumn inspired themes.
For my stationery friends, the paper quality is amazing. This is a common trend among all of Hazel Wood’s puzzle books. Really, something that makes me love them even more. Highlighters, pens, and pencils all work well.
I worked through these puzzles using a PaperMate InkJoy pen, Le Pen pens, and a Sharpie gel highlighter. The paper handled all three beautifully with no bleed-through, and the mix of colors kept everything looking clean and organized. The Sharpie gel highlighter was a standout, and a personal favorite, it’s perfect for marking or circling words without any smudging.

Overall, Hazel Wood is a master at crafting cozy puzzle books. There hasn’t been on that I have not enjoyed. If you are looking for a cozy hobby, a nice gift, or something to do while traveling, look no further than Brilliant British Autumn Word Search.
