Fighting the Inside Dragons

Bogdan Ignat

I had to dedicate a whole chapter to this boss dragon called “fear.” I’m doing this because it’s one of the main obstacles that stand between us and the life we want. We cannot kill this dragon because it’s linked to our survival. Fear exists because we need to know when we are in danger so we can act accordingly.

Ignat also has a website, Pointless Over Thinking, where you can read interesting content and participate in thought-provoking conversations via daily questions.

I read a digital copy of Fighting the Inside Dragons and found it quite enjoyable. I have read a handful of similar books that all feel more like textbook littered with case studies. Fighting the Inside Dragons does a great job of breaking down complex topics into bite-size snippets anyone can understand and apply to their daily life.

Fighting the Inside Dragons is a conversation with an insightful friend who is a realistic and a tad sarcastic. There are quite a few swears, so if that bothers you in your reading, this is probably not the book for you. While they are plentiful, they do not distract from the reading experience.

One of my favorite things about Fighting the Inside Dragons was the overarching metaphor Ignat waves throughout the books, comparing our inner troubling thoughts and habits to a dragon and conquering those to slaying a dragon. He provides the readers with a sword, knife, shield, and armor all of which you will need to battle your dragon(s).

I liked Fighting The Inside Dragons for many reasons, one being that Ignat comforts the reader by pulling from his own life and crafting relatable examples. He tackles issues almost every person has dealt with from anxiety to facing your fears Ignat has a technique for you. Ignat recommends what to do and the works through an example or two of how to apply this technique in your life.

I recommend you give Fighting the Inside Dragons before picking up other self-help books~
