Starting off the week with another wonderful guest post from Risa at Alated Bibliophile. You can check out more of her thoughts at her blog and on twitter @alatedbookblog. Hope you enjoy her favorite read of 2021 so far, Broken Bonds by J. Bree.
You know the kind of book you read that sticks with you, no matter how many books you’ve read since? For me, that book is Broken Bonds by J. Bree.
Broken Bonds is a paranormal reverse harem romance that brings in fated mates, lots of angst, bullying, sexual chemistry, and supernatural elements that are unique to the story, which made for a compelling and interesting read. I won’t say this book is for everyone, not only because I know RH isn’t for everyone—you either love it or hate it—but it’s also heavy, so if you do decide to read it and need to double check it’s right for you, please look up trigger warnings. There are times the bullying from the FMC’s mates is pretty brutal and I won’t lie, I totally wanted to knock a few heads together while reading, but I also kind of understood where they’re coming from once I got the backstory.
All I have left to say is that I loved this story and the creative elements J. Bree added to this world was fantastic. This was easily my favorite read of the year (at least, so far!) and I can’t stop thinking about it. In fact, I’m planning on reading it again before diving into book two. If you also read it, please come to my blog and tell me what you think!
