It’s hard to believe, like most years, that another year is coming to a close. In 2023, I found myself in a reading slump as I struggled through the back-to-school season. However, I managed to gobble up 11 books over winter break and was able to reach my reading goal of 65 books!
What are my reading goals?
In 2024, I want to focus on reading unhinged horror novels. This year, I ventured into horror and fell in love with how broad the genre is. While there are predictable elements, there are so many things a reader could never imagine found within the pages of a horror novel. Spooktober in 2024 will be WILD now that I have built up my horror library.
In 2024, I will continue to use the library as my main source of books. I cannot stress enough the power of the library in the US. Join your local library, join the libraries across the nation that offer free memberships. READ FOR FREE!!!!
In 2024, I will try to read 65 books. Fifty to fifty-five books are an achievable number of books to tackle while teaching multiple grade levels; the extra 5-10 books 65 brings is a challenge for me. We will see how it goes.
In 2024, I would like to return to reading on my kindle. I have been absorbed in the experience of audiobooks, but miss reading on my kindle. I hope to get back to beauty the e-ink pages.
In 2024, I hope to be more consistent with my reviews and content in general. I am forever thankful to those who keep following me through my periods of absence! Over the summer, I worked with a lovely freelancer to develop a website redesign and new logos!! Obviously, I have not set aside the time to make all of the changes, but they are coming. Soon Lit Lemon will have cute lemon graphics sprinkled throughout reviews.
Are Goals worth it?
It really depends on who you are as a person. I love creating goals for myself, some that are achievable and others that challenge me to better myself (maybe try new things, build consistency, etc). In past years, I read certain books, didn’t buy any books, and didn’t meet my goals at all. Don’t feel pressure to meet or set goals at all. If anything, I encourage you to reflect on what you hope this new year will bring.
Do you have any goals for 2024? Please share! I’d love to know what everyone is striving toward in 2024.
Goodluck with your goals!
Im retrying my goal of 40, as I failed by a few in 2023- i still cant belive it’s gone!
Also more nonfiction, and hopefully a third of french

One of my goals for 2024 is to make progress in my Backlist. I’m doing the challenge @ReaderVoracious mentioned on their blog. I’m aiming for 1 book/month.
