Book Review: Dead Girl Fighting (New Order Series Book 2) by Ann Noser

My Summary:

Stranded alone outside the fenced city limits, SILVIA WOOD must choose between survival or surrender.

After secrets have been revealed that alter everything she believed to be true, Silvia must find her way across miles of green wilderness and deserted highway to convince someone from her past to help her change the future. Food and water are scarce, strangers are scary, and it becomes so easy to get lost along the way.

Determined to save both herself and the loved ones she left behind, Silvia is still running for her life.

My Thoughts:

I am so happy I kicked off 2024 with this duology.

Dead Girl Fighting picks up right where book 1, Dead Girl Running, ends. Silvia is on the outside. With the city behind her, she sets off to find her father. Along the way we get a better idea of what the current state of the world is like. Some decided not to move into the city, while others escaped the city to live freely in the wild. People gather in small groups to govern themselves. Which creates an interesting environment to contrast the order found within the walls of the city.

Dead Girl Fighting paints the world less a dystopia and more like an apocalyptic event took place. People on the outside, are doing as well as they can. They live in established parts of Michigan and surrounding states. Silvia encounters different walks of live, making it clear, it is a lawless land.

Silvia walks from the city for days until she finds her father. In his group, she discovers a few other familiar faces that spark controversy. Soon, Silvia knows what she must do. She has to save her mother and those she cares about. While her task seems impossible, she soon discovers that the city is in shambles.

Dead Girl Fighting is a past pace read. There are no slow points. You will be hanging on by the edge of your seat to discover how Dead Girl Fighting ends. I was.

If you like rebels, revolts, dystopian young adult novels, and a strong theme of family–look no further than Dead Girl Fighting.
