What you feel, Cassidy Blake, is called a purpose.

Screen Shot 2020-02-09 at 7.15.04 PMCity of Ghost has been on my reading list for a few months, not nearly as long as other books I own by Victoria Schwab. City of Ghost is book one in the Cassidy Blake series. If you have not read City of Ghost, snag a copy as soon as possible or at least before 2021 when the Netflix animated series is supposed to release.

From the first few lines, I was hooked. Schwab is wickedly talented and crafts a mysterious realm within our own. Due to a near-death experience, Cassidy Blake can now see and interact with ghosts. She has a ghost pal named Jacob, and together they cross in and out of the Veil. Their interactions with specters are lighthearted until Cassidy’s parents take on a new job as Tv paranormal investors.

The Blakes go to Scotland to film, here Cassidy quickly learns she is a newbie in the paranormal world. Ghosts are everywhere, each with a story, one with a sinister plan. While her parents explore Scotland’s most haunted places, Cassidy’s abilities are pushed to the limits. She meets a fellow in-betweener, Lara, who teaches Cassidy some quick tips to managing the Veil. As Cassidy processes her role as an in-betweener, she finds herself in a battle for her life.

Cassidy Blake’s adventure is exciting. I listened to the first few chapters of this book using my Amazon Echo but had to stop to read the rest. I had to know how the story ended and could not handle the suspense to listen. I highly recommend reading City of Ghost. I can only imagine what a fun adventure City of Ghost would be for a younger reader.

Have you read City of Ghost? Have you read any of Victoria Schwab’s work?

I’ve wanted this book for a while now but haven’t been able to get my hands on it yet. I didn’t even know there would be an animated series for it. That’s cool. I definitely need to find it before 2021 for sure.
